    INTRODUCTION
                GPI Group Test Team was appointed by T.K.D. FIBER CO., LTD. (CARRYBOY) to test Pick-up which installed CARRYBOY SPORT LID MODEL: SM for analyzing fuel consumption rate between without sport lid installation and with sport lid installation at Peera International Circuit Pattaya on July 24, 2006.


    PRODUCTS

                CARRYBOY SPORT LID MODEL: SM is the most utility lid cover which is the latest technology for convenience uses. Motor electric motor system is available to use for two functions; open especially the rear or raise the front at the same level of cabin. The selected fiberglass, which is used in production is special class, reinforce with “Honey Comb” for increasing strength payload about 500 kg. With the latest Mechanism system technology increases convenience uses to open/close lid cover. Moreover, curved, attractive design and cover up with sport style, be harmony with proportion, can decrease “Drag Coefficient” (Cd) about 14 %. According to testing with model vehicle in wind tunnel, which certify by Machinery Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang.


    VEHICLE SPECIFICATION

                Vehicle, which is tested, is Toyota Hilux Vigo Model: 2.5E, Model of engine: 2KD-FTV, capacity: 2.5 litre, 102 hps. at 3,600 rounds/min and torque: 200 Nm. at 1,400-3,200 rounds/min, two rear wheels drive with 5 speed manual transmission, total weight with driver is 1,600 kg. (Vehicle’s weight: 1,530 kg.) tyre air pressure which controls pressure be equal with vehicle’s factory specification at two front wheels 38 Psi and two rear wheels 42 Psi.


    TESTING DETAIL

                In this testing, separated fuel tube’s capacity only two litre is set which is special design for this testing especially. Testing at Peera International Circuit Pattaya, is controlled speed at 60-80 km/h. This driving changes level of gear at 2,000 round/min. and keeps round of engine not over 2,500 round/min. at the forth gear for keeping pick-up runs constantly through five rounds with 11.5 km. (total distance).
                Pick-up is tested two times, five rounds of  Peera International Circuit Pattaya per time. The first round is the testing of fuel consumption rate with CARRYBOY SPORTLID MODEL:SM Installation. In this testing, 1.8 litres
    of fuel is filled into the separated fuel tube for testing through distance that is 11.5 km. When the testing finishes, 0.85 litre of fuel remains in the tested fuel tube. It presents only 0.95 litre of fuel is utilized.

    The second round, without CARRYBOY SPORT LID and fills 1.8 litres of fuel into tested fuel tube which is equal with the first round. Then, test again with driving like the first round. Fuel remains 0.7 litre which shows that 1.10 litre of fuel is utilized at the same distance of the first round.
